I once saw this dacumentary on Andy Goldsworthy and It was interesting to watch the lengths he would go through to make one of his many nature installations.
One piece in particular has always stuck in my head and that was one where he carefully laid out autum leaves in a circlular shape with colors shifting from red trhough orange and into yellow as they were positioned further from the center.
I can only imagine the amount of patience that it required to accomplish that kind of task. But I often remark to myself that this is part of the reason why that experience has stuck with me. The genious of the idea of using something so common place as leaves is one thing, but it's also getting the viewer to know or connect with the amount of time and effort required to accomplish his goal that resonated stronger with me.
Well, in anycase. Not to compare anything he has done to my own. I just caught myself thinking about it as I was moving little colored vectored pieces around in an Illustrator document and remarking how much easier that was to do then what I had seen Mr. Goldsworthy do.
