Hearts & Minds: Erik Natzke
In our circles he may be known best for his brilliant Flash contributions to some of the most standout online ad efforts (Comcast's "Puppets," being a prime example), but the Peoria-based Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design alum is also an impressive artist who creates generative paintings out of Flash, conjured from sheer programming alone, or derived from an already existing image. The piece you see here, and the image on our September cover are two examples of his work.
"For quite a while now I've been using Flash as a tool for creating interactive advertising on the web," Natzke says about his upcoming appearance. "Throughout that process I have learned a lot and now I am looking at ways to apply what I've learned towards the creation of code enabled artwork."
